Liberian Government denies compensation to health workers who die from Ebola while saving lives

Watch an interview with Paul Tilame of the PSI-affiliated National Private Sector Health Workers Union of Liberia (NPSHWU) talking about the protests at the health ministers summit in Monrovia in April and the deaths of the health workers from Ebola.

The NPSHWU, with the National Health Workers Association of Liberia, held protests outside the West Africa Health Ministers Summit in Monrovia, Liberia on 11-12 April 2014, highlighting the poor health and safety conditions in the country which has lead to health worker deaths in the fight against Ebola. NPSHWU conveyed a report of the protest to the 1st Conference of the West African Health Sector Unions Network (WAHSUN) held on 24-25 April 2014 in Abuja, Nigeria. WAHSUN affiliates unanimously voted to support health workers in Liberia.

This video was made possible in part through a PSI trade union development project in cooperation with SASK (the trade union solidarity centre of Finland) and PSI Finnish affiliates JHL and TEHY.
