Launching of PSI migration project materials in Nigeria

On 11 October 2016 in Abuja, Nigeria, PSI affiliates from Nigeria, Ghana and Sierra Leone launched the Nigeria National Report, Pre-Decision and Information Kit, Passport to Workers’ Rights and Migrant Desk Posters within the PSI Project on Decent Work and Social Protection for Migrant Workers in the Public Services.

The launch was followed by panel discussions looking at Migration Policy and Practice in Nigeria and a dialogue on key issues relating to Health, Migration and Ebola Response Strategy in West Africa.

NigeriaParticipants included key leaders of PSI affiliates, the Nigeria Labour Congress, ILO office in Nigeria, the Organisation of Trade Unions in West Africa, representatives from civil society, media organisations and officials from the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Federal Commission on Migrants, Refugees and Internally Displaced Persons.

PSI unions from these three West African countries are in Abuja this week to launch the migration project in Nigeria and to review their national work plans.
