PSI is calling on affiliates to join the Global Frackdown to Paris initiative by signing an international letter to world leaders in support of a ban on fracking and a renewable energy future.
Fracking is an extreme and unsafe method of extracting fossil fuels from the ground that pollutes the water we drink and the air we breathe. It is dangerous for communities and our climate and has been linked to earthquakes. It is unacceptable that the oil and gas industry profits at the expense of our drinking water, environment and safety. Reliance on fracking keeps us from moving to renewable energy.
Each year, Food & Water Watch spearheads an international day of action, uniting organisations from around the world to call on our leaders to ban fracking everywhere. This year the Global Frackdown will occur during the entire month of November in the lead up to the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Paris, France. The “Global Frackdown to Paris” will serve to highlight our growing movement and build pressure on national leaders to oppose fracking.
In 2014, over 300 organisations joined the Global Frackdown. This year there will be many more. Join the Food & Water Watch in taking action to protect our communities as we express the need for urgent action to our elected leaders.
Sign the petition to stand with citizens across the globe fighting to ban fracking in their communities.
