Cypriot teachers fight for human rights and democracy

17 June 2013
PSI writes to the Minister of Education and Culture of Cyprus to express serious concern at the decision taken to dismiss around 2,500 employees who provide education in the evening and night schools of the Ministry.

According to our sources of information, the Ministry has decided to meet the specific programs’ needs through outsourcing and declaration for tenders. The consequences are catastrophic for the teachers, who now have to propose their services as self-employed workers and will not get any unemployment benefits during the period they are unemployed.
