Women municipal workers in Brazil and the Southern Cone meet to bridge gender gap in the sector

For the first time since the launch of the PSI Confederation of Municipal Workers’ Unions of the Americas (CONTRAM-PSI), more than 60 municipal sector trade unionists met in Asuncion, Paraguay, on 7 September, to discuss the labour and trade union situation of women workers in the sector.

Argentina: National health sector strike and "No to CUS"

The "NO to CUS" coalition composed of the ATE, CTA, FESPROSA , the General Medicine Federation and other organisations met in Buenos Aires on 9 March, only 48 hours after the national health sector strike against the wage ceiling, and in support of a wage increase in line with inflation and unrestricted negotiations.

The studies touch on gender implications of legislation, public finance, participatory decision-making, and monitoring.

Luis Alberto Marrale passed away on 28 December 2015. He was the international head of the Asociación del Personal Superior de Empresas de Energía (APSEE), the Argentinian trade union affiliated to PSI.

Climate change: Towards and Beyond COP21

The solutions to the climate challenge require a substantive transformation of the current socio-economic development paradigm, including industrial change. This is not just about some technical changes to energy production or transport systems. What is required is a redefinition of the predominant model of production and consumption. We must give back to the state and public services their role in supporting our communities, and ensure that workers and trade unions are able to participate fully in all steps of this process.
