West African Health Sector Unions Network meetings

Two meetings were held during the month of January in Nigeria and Ghana between PSI affiliates who form the West African Health Sector Unions’ Network (WAHSUN). The aim of these meetings are to promote the delivery of quality health care.

From 15-16 January 2014: The West African Health Sector Unions’ Network (WAHSUN) in collaboration with Public Services International (PSI) held a 2-day workshop in the Garki district of Abuja, Nigeria, on 15-16 January 2014. The theme of the workshop was deepening collaboration between WAHSUN, the Federal Ministry of Health and the West African Health Organisation. The workshop aimed at fostering institutional mechanisms and concerted efforts that would promote the delivery of quality health at the local, national and sub-regional levels. From 28-30 January 2014: PSI affiliates from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone who form the West African Health Sector Unions Network (WAHSUN) met in Accra, Ghana, to evaluate and plan strategic interventions in their sector in order to strengthen health union’s voices in regional organisations and to campaign for universal health care.
