Technical Mission from the International Labour Organization (ILO) visits Ecuador

Statements by representatives of FUT-ISP-UNE and Ecuadorian Medical College on the visit of the ILO Mission to Ecuador this 26 July to 30 January of 2015: Wilson Alvarez, Jose Villavicencio, Rosanna Palacios and Alberto Narváez
An ILO technical mission will visit Ecuador on 26-30 January to examine first-hand a series of complaints received by the Committee of Application of Standards on the working conditions of Ecuadorian public sector workers since 2007.

During the 2014 International Labour Conference last June, the Committee of Application of Standards (CAS) observed the persistent violations by the Ecuadorian government of ILO Convention 98 on the right to organise and collective bargaining.

During the visit, ILO will meet government, employer and worker representatives as well as member organisations of the Frente Unitario de Trabajadores, Public Services International affiliates in Ecuador and members of the National Union of Teachers (UNE), a member of Educational International. Members of the technical mission will present all the information supporting the complaints as well as recent cases showing that state policies negatively affecting worker’s rights are continuing.
