PSI World Women's Committee held in Geneva

Trade unionists, representing Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and Inter-America, came together for the PSI World Women's Committee (WOC) on 13 November at the ILO headquarters in Geneva.

In the morning, the new WOC President Irene Khumalo of Swaziland was welcomed, she will be replacing Juneia Batista, who has been assuming this responsibility since 2013.

The main issues addressed were related to gender issues in the amendments to the PSI Constitution; the follow-up of the priorities of the PSI Plan of Action regarding work on gender indicators, the UN Commission on the Status of Women; the ILO Convention on Violence and Harassment in the World of Work; the centenary of the ILO and the future of equality at work; taxation and gender justice; Equal pay and care services and their links to quality public services with a gender sensitivity.
