PSI Vice President appointed Minister in Sweden

PSI Vice President Annika Strandhäll was appointed Minister for Social Security and Head of the Ministry of Social Affairs in Sweden on 3 October 2014.

PSI General Secretary, Rosa Pavanelli, has sent a letter of congratulations to Annika Strandhäll following her appointment as Sweden's new Minister for Social Security.

 

Dear Annika,

I would like to express to you my personal satisfaction and add, I am sure, congratulations from all PSI affiliates for your appointment as Minister for Social Security and Head of the Ministry of Social Affairs in Sweden’s new government.

It is a certainly not only a true recognition of your personal commitment to social issues, but also of the important role you have played as a trade union leader in Sweden.

PSI will certainly miss your involvement with our work, but we know that we have now a very good friend of public services workers and of trade unions within the Swedish Government.

I am sure that you will have many opportunities to continue testify your commitment to social justice, solidarity and workers’ rights, and that PSI affiliates can now count on a new strong ally for their battles.
