Public Services International and Education International renewed joint LGBT activities by organizing a trade union planning and coordination meeting on 30 July in Brussels at the International Trade Union House.

The meeting brought together 20 women and men from 10 different countries and 3 continents. All of them have many years of LGBT and trade union activism under their belts.

They discussed how LGBT issues can be given more visibility within their respective organisations and society at large, trade union rights campaigning and fighting discrimination and homophobia. With the support of a PSI/AbvaKabo LGBT rights project, several participants from Brazil and Turkey could share their experiences and the progress made in their countries.

Participants shared best practices and pledged to work towards building a strong LGBT trade union activist network as well as joint campaigns.

The PSI delegation is taking part in the Human Rights Conference (HRC) of the Outgames in Antwerp, 31 July-2 August 2013.
