PSI at the United Nations High Level Dialogue on Migration and Development (HLD)

The United Nations General Assembly will hold a High Level Dialogue on Migration and Development (UN HLD) on 3-4 October 2013 at the UN Headquarters in New York. The objective of this UN HLD is to “identify concrete measures to strengthen coherence and cooperation at all levels, with a view to enhancing the benefits of international migration for migrants and countries alike and its important links to development, while reducing its negative implications” (UN General Assembly Resolution A/C.2/67/L.15/Rev.1, 12 December 2012).

ILO Tripartite Technical meeting adopts the General Principles and Operational Guidelines on Recruitment

The Tripartite Technical Meeting of Experts to Develop Guidance on Fair Recruitment held at the ILO in Geneva on 5-7 September adopted the General Principles and Operational Guidelines on Recruitment that will be submitted for approval by the ILO Governing Body in November.

ILO Tripartite Technical Meeting on Access of Refugees to the Labour Market

PSI will be participating in the ILO tripartite technical meeting on the access of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons to the labour market that will be held at the ILO in Geneva from 5-7 July 2016. This meeting comes at a time when the international community is facing an escalation of forced human displacement worldwide.

Environmental and social sustainability provided the primary theme for PSI’s work in 2009. Leading into the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 15) in Copenhagen in December, trade unions and civil society allies worked hard to ensure that world leaders would agree on an ambitious plan to reduce carbon emissions. Alas, this dream did not become reality. But we are committed to continuing this struggle and achieving real results.
